It has been a while since updating this journal entry. Mainly because there's nothing much to say. I've been trying to let 'art' speak for itself. Lessee, Since the last update, I've upgraded my camera to a Canon 50d, absolutely love it. It gave me a few more options as far as what I could do, and the 7 megapixel bump doesn't hurt much either.

With a slice of the tax refund, my wife insisted that I get a beginner studio strobe setup. All my lighting had been done with natural light, or tungsten hot lamps, these strobes make for one heck of a step forward. So I have a three light setup, with two white umrellas and one silver. The strobes are 160ws strobes, not too powerful, but I've found that I'm not usually working in an area more than 10 feet square, so they should be more than sufficient. With the light kit came an old Wein WP1000, incident flash meter. Had to show the guys at the camera store how it works, which gave the ego a bit of a stroke. I've always been annoyed by the smug superiority that drips off camera store employees. Sort of that, "I know more than you, shoot better than you, and am the gods gift to photography," vibe. Of course I'm always thinking, "Then why are you working in a camera store instead of shooting pictures?"

Not that I'm the gods gift to photography by any stretch.

So there's what has changed. My wife/model gets the old camera, and will start experimenting in her spare time, when she isn't working, mothering, wifeing, or the multitude of other things this woman does for us on a daily basis.

Still love te new vehicle, have gotten used to having a car payment again.

In December I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. It was actually a relief to know that why I'd been feely crappy was able to be diagnosed, and I could own the responsibility to alleviate the problem. But now I'm on medications regularly for the first time in my life, and have already lost 7 pounds thanks to the new diet.

I'm really looking forward to spring, to get back into nature with the new camera, new vehicle, and the same wonderful family.
